    About image compression

This tool attempts to reduce JPG and WebP file size by re-encoding at the original resolution. If the result is not smaller, the original is kept. It does not resize or change image formats.

    When this tool is useful

Reduce the file size of photos for websites or email attachments without changing their pixel dimensions. For smaller width and height as well, use the Image Resizer.

    How to use

    1. Add still JPG or WebP images (up to 30 files, 30 MB each and 150 MB in total).
    2. Choose a quality and inspect the before-and-after preview.
    3. Download results individually or as a ZIP. Remove unwanted images from the list or clear all.

    Quality settings

The numbers are encoder quality settings, not percentages of the original image quality.

    Maximum Quality 95

Prioritizes a look close to the source.

    High Quality 85

The recommended default, balancing appearance and file size.

    Standard 75

Uses stronger compression when you want a smaller file.

    Smaller 65

Prioritizes size reduction; differences may be visible in some images.

    Side-by-side comparison

The original and compressed versions use matching display areas and aspect ratios. Zoom in and drag either image to move both views to the same position, making fine compression differences easier to inspect. Select an item in the results to compare a different image.

    About file size

Results vary by image. If re-encoding does not make an image smaller, the original is kept and labeled accordingly rather than saving a larger file. In that case, original EXIF and other metadata remain. Use the separate metadata-removal tool when you need to remove such information.
